This guide installs Buinbu XML Feed on your store and shows what the app reads. At the end the home page shows the Getting started card with your catalog read. Time: 2 minutes.
Before you start
- A store owner account, or a staff account allowed to install apps.
- Nothing else: the app starts on the Free plan. Plan limits only matter when you add feeds or import sources; see the pricing page.
Steps
- Open the Buinbu XML Feed listing on the Shopify App Store and install it.
- Review the access the app asks for (see the table below) and approve. Shopify opens Buinbu XML Feed inside your admin.
- The home page Welcome to Buinbu XML Feed opens. Its Getting started card has three steps: “Your products were read”, “Create your first feed” and “Add the feed URL to the channel”.
- The catalog is read in the background; this can take a few minutes for large stores. When it finishes, the first step reads “N active products read; changes are tracked automatically.”
- Continue with Create your first feed.
What the app reads
| Access | Used for |
|---|---|
| Products, variants, images, metafields you use in filters | Feed items: titles, descriptions, links, images, identifiers |
| Inventory | Availability per variant; stock levels written by imports you apply |
| Locations | The primary location that imports write stock to |
| Markets, languages, sales channel publications | Price and currency per market, product links |
| Shop details | Store currency, primary domain and country |
The app writes products and stock only when you apply an import or turn on automatic updates for one; feeds never change your products. Customer and order data are not requested.
Settings and plans
- Settings holds App language and Email notifications. Error e-mails (Starter and above) and the weekly summary (Growth and Scale) go to your store e-mail.
- Plans lists the plans. Charges appear on your Shopify invoice and you can change the plan at any time (pricing).
Check that it works
- The Getting started card shows “Your products were read” as done.
- The plan line on the home page reads “Catalog: N active products · last sync …”.
Common problems
| Problem | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot install | Your staff account may not install apps | Ask the store owner to install, or to grant the permission |
| “Catalog not synced yet” stays for long | The first catalog read is still running | Wait a few minutes and reload; very large catalogs take longer |
| You want to remove the app | — | Uninstall it from the apps list in your Shopify admin settings. Every feed URL stops at once and answers “410 Gone”, so remove the URLs from your channels first. Feeds are not restored if you reinstall; feed files are deleted when Shopify sends the store’s data erasure request, 48 hours after uninstall. Products created by imports stay in your store |
