Create a Google feed in Buinbu, add its URL to Merchant Center as a scheduled fetch and see which Shopify field fills each Google attribute.

Google Merchant Center lists your products in Shopping ads and free listings. Buinbu XML Feed produces the format Google documents for feeds: RSS 2.0 with the g: namespace, one item per variant.

Before you start

  • A Merchant Center account with your store’s website claimed and verified.
  • Products with a vendor (brand) and, where they exist, barcodes (GTIN).

1. Create the feed in Buinbu

  1. Open Export and choose Create feed, then pick Google Merchant Center on Feed templates.
  2. Under Feed name and market pick the Market (country) whose prices Google sees on your product pages and keep Currency on that market’s currency. If the currency does not match the market, the run fails with Currency mismatch and the file is not updated.
  3. Under Product selection keep Leave gift cards out on and leave out-of-stock products in.
  4. Under Filters tick saved filters if you want to narrow the products, change prices or rewrite fields (Filters, price rules and stock).
  5. Set the Refresh frequency and choose Create feed.

2. Copy the feed URL

The feed page opens with “Feed created. The first file is being generated.” Under Feed URL choose Copy URL. The URL ends with .xml, needs no username or password and allows Googlebot.

3. Add the feed in Merchant Center

  1. In Merchant Center open Products and choose to add products from a file. Google renames these menus from time to time; look for the option that fetches a file from a URL on a schedule (“scheduled fetch”).
  2. Paste the URL from step 2.
  3. Set the fetch frequency to daily, Google’s default, and pick a time after your feed’s refresh. Save.

4. Wait for the first fetch and review

Choose Fetch now for the first run. Processing takes minutes; the first review of new items can take up to three business days. Then open Diagnostics and fix errors first, warnings second. In Buinbu the feed page reads “Last fetched: … · Google” once Google has downloaded the file.

g:shipping_weightVariant weightWhen above 0
g:custom_label_0 to 4Custom label field templatesUp to 100 characters; campaign grouping

Buinbu does not write g:gender, g:age_group or g:shipping. Google requires gender and age group for apparel in BR, FR, DE, JP, UK and US, and shipping for AU, CA, FR, DE, JP, UK and US unless it is set in the account: set shipping in Merchant Center’s account settings, and add apparel attributes with Merchant Center’s own rules or a supplemental data source.

Refresh: the file refreshes at the feed’s Refresh frequency, and on Growth and Scale also a few minutes after a product or stock change (plans). Google fetches once a day by default; raise it in Merchant Center if your prices change often.
